Equipment: Baking tray

Ingredients

  • 400 g extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into 2cm steaks
  • 2 tbsp tamari
  • 15 g fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 250 g tenderstem broccoli (broccolini)

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C). Whisk the tamari, ginger, garlic and sesame oil, and turn the tofu steaks in it.
  2. Lay the tofu on a lined tray and bake for 15 minutes.
  3. Turn the tofu, add the broccoli tossed in olive oil, and bake for 10 more minutes.
  4. Scatter with sesame seeds and spoon over any remaining marinade. Taste before adding salt — the tamari already seasons the dish.

Swaps and tips

Pressing the tofu first makes all the difference - 15 minutes under a weighted plate. Extra-firm tofu only.
