Health Conditions
Information on health conditions linked to metabolic health. Every condition has a one-page summary and an in-depth article. These are for information only, they are not medical advice. When created they were based on national guidelines, but recommendations can change. Always speak to your healthcare team for your personal medical needs.
-
Chronic Kidney Disease
A long-term reduction in how well the kidneys work. It usually develops slowly and without symptoms, and is often found on a routine blood or urine test.
-
Fatty Liver Disease (MASLD)
A build-up of fat inside the liver that is not caused by alcohol. It is very common, usually causes no symptoms, and often improves once metabolic health is restored.
-
Heart Failure
Heart failure means the heart is not pumping or filling as well as it should. It does not mean the heart has stopped, and treatment can help you feel better and live longer.
-
Prediabetes
Blood sugar that is higher than normal but not yet in the diabetes range. It is driven by insulin resistance, and for many people it can be reversed.
-
Reactive Hypoglycaemia
A drop in blood sugar a few hours after eating, usually after a meal high in sugar or refined carbohydrate. It normally settles once you change what and how you eat.
-
Type 2 Diabetes
Blood sugar that stays too high because the body stops responding properly to insulin. It can often be significantly improved or put into remission with lifestyle changes.
