Thin beef strips seared fast with ginger and soy.
Equipment: Wok or large frying pan
Measures and names
Ingredients
- 300 g beef strips, or thinly sliced steak
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tbsp oil
Optional extras
- 1 garlic clove, sliced
- A thumb of ginger, grated
- Sliced spring onions (scallions)
- A bag of stir-fry vegetables
- A pinch of chilli flakes (red pepper flakes)
Method
- Heat the oil in a wok or large pan until smoking hot.
- Add the beef in one layer and leave for 1 minute, then toss for 1 to 2 minutes more. Add any garlic, ginger or vegetables and toss for 2 minutes.
- Splash in the soy sauce, toss and serve.
Swaps and tips
Use tamari to make it gluten-free. Cook in batches if your pan is small, so the beef sears rather than stews.
